Hey guys, today I’m going to review the Kindle book Yule Tides by Kassanna.
My attention was first drawn to this book when I recommended it by a friend. She knows I’m into BWWM books, and thought I’d enjoy this. And… She was right!
Before I fully go into what I thought however, let me give you a quick overview of what the book is about. I won’t give away too much details, so don’t worry.
The story basically revolves around a single white man named Seth. He has a daughter, but no partner as his wife walked out on him some time ago. The wife is still partly in the picture, realizing she actually wants him back. But he’s not interested in her or any of the other women currently interested in him.
While out fishing though, his daughter mentions a sad looking woman who is always sitting at the pier and looking out to sea. He soon goes over and talks to her, a black woman named Mona. After finding out a Christmas related accident has left her negative about life, Seth goes on a mission to make her happy again. Will he succeed? Or will she stay as she is?
So what do I think about this story? Well as I briefly let slip earlier, I LOVE this book! Not only is it perfect for this time of year (I wrote this around Christmas if you’re reading this in future), but it’s also a great feel good book for any time of the year.
Although Mona is down when she’s first introduced, the efforts Seth goes through to make her feel better is very touching and heart warming. He receives resistance along the way, but he keeps going.
I’m sure a lot of us have gone through that kind of thing before, wanting to help someone who doesn’t want to be helped. So to see this in a book and how it all turns out, it really touches home.
If you’re after a nice thought provoking yet heart warming read this festive season, I suggest you pick this book up. And if you do, be sure to let me know what you think. 🙂
